Extension Minister

Bonnie Osteen, Associate Pastor

 REV. Bonnie Osteen
 Extension Minister

I believe that God answers prayers in many ways. This past year, God has given me the opportunity to serve different churches as an Intentional Interim Minister. God has led me each time to use the gifts and experience that I have been blessed with, to minister to four other congregations. I especially enjoy assessing the congregation, and helping to discern what God has in store for them next on their faith journey. At the same time, I have continued to serve at Chapelwood. I have experienced the love of God all over again, with the loving, passionate, and committed people of Chapelwood UMC and the community.;

Favorite Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."

These words have appeared over and over in my time of ministry. This scriptures was used during my ordination service and on my Walk to Emmaus. It helps me to remember that God does have a plan which I am to respond.

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in education and later from Southern Methodist University--Perkins School of Theology with a Master of Divinity degree. My first appointment as a pastor began in 2000. Over these years, I have seen how God has taken me to the next step each move. My undergraduate degree has helped me with the teaching aspect of ministry. My time at Perkins deepened my spiritual roots, and also gave me a desire to learn more. My family has been supportive and continued to help shape me with the gift of unconditional love. My heart is overfilled with the abundance of God’s grace. My prayer is that each one of us will be open to follow God’s plan for our lives. See you on Sunday! In January of 2009 I was appointed Associate Pastor at Chapelwood United Methodis here in Lake Jackson.
