Dr. G. Wesley Welborn is the Senior
Pastor of Chapelwood United Methodist Church. He came to Chapelwood
in June of 2006. Prior to coming to Lake Jackson, he served churches
in Brenham, Center, Van, Baytown, Bryan, Beckville Circuit, Colfax
Circuit, Texas City and Smith Chapel circuit. Wesley had his
first preaching appointment in 1972 and has been a conference member
since 1977.
Born in Corpus Christi
on August 4, 1949, Wesley married Becky Lock on December 26, 1970.
He and Becky have two children, Kathleen
Haynes,
Associate Pastor of
Annendale UMC, Washington, D.C. and Jonathan Welborn, Lieutenant,
U.S. Army, West Point Graduate. They are blessed with two grandsons,
Michael, 6 months and Zeke, 5 months.
Wesley graduated in 1975 from East Texas State University and he
earned his Master of Theology in 1979 from Perkins School of
Theology. He earned his Doctor of Ministry from McCormick
Theological Seminary in 1988.
