RAISING A GENERATION IN FAITH
Three years ago, Chapelwood set out to invest in our youth and children so that they could develop the kind of faith that lasts into adulthood. We have taken seriously the findings of the National Study of Youth and Religion and you will find its influence in every aspect of our church life.
Children's Ministry Director
Myra grew up here in Lake Jackson attending Chapelwood as a child and now as an adult. She graduated from Southwestern University with a Bachelor’s degree in Child Study and Language Development. She has taught for over 15 years in the early elementary classroom (PreK, Kindergarten and 1st grade). She has a passion for using music and movement to help children explore and learn. She is now pursuing her Masters of Arts in Ministry with a focus on Christian Education at SMU Perkins.
She is excited about this opportunity to explore God’s next steps for her life, but also to watch how God leads our children to grow and explore their faith journey.
Meets Sunday mornings during Grow Hour in room 210.
Special events scheduled quarterly. Contact Myra Jones for more information.

Youth Ministry Director
Anthony holds a degree in Biblical Literature and Youth Ministry from Indiana Wesleyan University, and will graduate with a Master’s of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Anthony has more than 10 years leading youth ministry in a variety of settings in three different states. In addition to all of this Anthony is a candidate for ordained ministry as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church.
Anthony grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In talking with Anthony you quickly learn about where he grew up, "One thing that’s important to know about Wisconsin is it has this “little” season called winter. It lasts from about November to April.” Anthony is clear with everyone that he will not miss winter in the slightest. There is one thing he will miss, "cheese curds."
For the last two years Anthony has been a Masters of Divinity student at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Il. Anthony has completed all of his course work except two independent studies and his field education internship. Anthony will be using Chapelwood United Methodist Church as his field education placement (similar to Myra Jones’ plan for this next year). While in seminary Anthony has been working part time as the Director of Youth Ministries at First United Methodist Church of Arlington Heights outside of Chicago.
During the school year, we meet on Wednesday nights at 6:30-8pm for dinner and Bible study. Please bring your Bible and a friend. Please check our monthly calendar for any changes to our Midweek schedule. Parents are encouraged to sign up to provide dinner or attend as a volunteer.
Join us for our Grow Hour on Sunday mornings at 9:45am. During the summer, all youth meet together in the couch room. During the school year, 7th-8th graders meet in the couch room and 9th-12th graders meet in the Sr. High Cafe Room.
Sunday Night Youth
We meet 3-4 times per month on Sunday evenings at 5pm. Sunday nights rotate between worship with a lesson and small groups; a meal with games and discussion groups; and service projects.
